ReBru Spirits (Permanently Closed)
Opened in 2020 in the space that formerly hosted Roxy's Rockin' Grill, ReBru Spirit Co. features a core lineup consists of spirits crafted, or rather ‘re-crafted,’ from San Diego Craft beer. The local brews are the starting point of ReBru vodka, gin, and whiskey. Everything is sourced locally when possible, organic when feasible, and repurposed when logical.
Founder Dennis O’Connor is a cofounder of Thorn Brewing, which expanded its brewing operations in 2015 into a 40,000-square-foot former boiler factory on National Avenue that housed both a distillery and a nearby speakeasy bar, woodfire pizza restaurant, and outdoor BBQ space.
Initial partners included Christine Cole, former creative director of Modern Times Beer who brings design perspective; executive chef Kenzo Inai brings fine dining experience to the pizza restaurant, dubbed Hott Mess; and pit master David Kendall, of Grand Ole BBQ, who brings smoked brisket to Sideyard BBQ.
