Great carne asada burritos. The rest of the menu is good but not great. A very busy, surfer, beachy Mexican restaurant that is quick and cheap. Local kids love this place. But it has no atmosphere or even bathrooms sometimes.
Very authentic and fresh Mexican food. Served in healthy-sized portions with a smile by Juanita's family. It is easy to miss as it is a small building on the corner of Encinitas' main drag, but look for the blue and white shack and the line at the window. Very good food, very reasonably priced. Juanita started this little place after her husband died to support herself and her children. Since then it has become a neighborhood icon and was featured on a local TV show as one of the "must see" places if you find yourself in Encinitas.
You cannot go wrong with any of their soups, fish tacos, or burritos. If you are looking for taco bell type nachos you'll be disappointed. You can't go inside, and the few outdoor tables they have on their little corner face a parking lot. But get it to go and walk down to the many picturesque oceanside viewing spots just a block or two away and enjoy!
