The bakery is called Caked, but most of the glass case is filled with cookies. Large, soft cookies, individually wrapped. There are brownies too, such as the toffee hazelnut chocolate, made with a nutella cookie base and stuffed with toffee crumbles and two kinds of chocolate chips. Or, the peanut butter chocolate chip: chunks of Reese’s peanut butter chunks with chocolate chips in a brown sugar cookie.
The baker is Kathy Phan, who formerly baked cookies in a home kitchen, then used a cottage food permit to sell them at farmers markets. But her cookies have gotten popular, so she’s let a space in Miramar.
