A specialized spiritograph captures the moment that the 52-year-old gorilla’s soul shuffled off this mortal coil and slipped the surly bonds of earth. Born in the wild in 1972, Winston euphemistically came under the care of a private owner in England before being remanded to the Zoo in 1984. “No cage can hold him now,” said Paula Primatophile, a spokeswoman for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. “He served his time, though he committed no crime, and now he’s free to roam the Big Jungle in the Sky.”
