A word of explanation about this week's odd "1000" comic: This is the 1000th Overheard strip. The accompanying article which would have made this clear, "Overheard: The Inside Story," was apparently bumped for breaking news and will now appear in a separate issue. Which renders this edition of the comic somewhat incomprehensible and lacking context (I would have lettered "This is the 1000th comic!" had I known the article about this might be MIA), but what the heck, I had fun drawing it. Back to the usual strip format next week -
