A Chinaman was fishing for abalone off Pt. Loma and it clamped on his hand and he didn’t have sense enough to take a rock and break it and he drowned. They found him clamped to a rock there.
Chinese Social Services Center building on Third was constructed in 1911 to house the local Chee Rung Tong — the old Chinese political tong (later a secret society) that plotted Sun Yat-sen’s 1911 overthrow of the Ch’ing Dynasty.
