Sherrell Lee Beecher, 69, passed away on November 13, 2016, after a lengthy illness. Born May 29, 1947, in Battle Creek, MI, to Robert and Virginia Mitchell, she attended Wooster High School in Reno, Nevada, and graduated from UC Davis with a teaching degree. Sherry taught high school English and history in Northern California before earning a registered nursing degree from Grossmont College in San Diego, where she practiced for more than 20 years at Kaiser Permanente. A fashionista beyond compare and the most loyal of friends, Sherry was known for her extraordinary wit, love of cats, hats, family and friends. As smart as she was beautiful, Sherry loved books and was passionate about world history. She founded and led a long-running book club in Rancho Santa Fe that became a lively literary salon.She was preceded in death by her sister, Vicky Mitchell. Sherry is survived by her loving parents, Robert and Virginia Mitchell; son, Michael James Beecher III; and companion, Michael Fremont. There will be a private celebration of Sherry's life.
