"Perhaps the only thing worse than a fascist-minded conservative Republican," says Ann Archy, Chief Disorganizational Officer for Antifa San Diego, "is an insufficiently progressive liberal Democrat. The former is a clearly defined enemy: he stands for everything you are sworn to destroy. But the latter, while still an operative of the oppressive state machinery, may seem sympathetic at times. She may even try to pose as an ally. You have to scratch the surface to find the oligarchical autocrat beneath."
Ms. Archy offers as an example Congresswoman Sara Jacobs, who posted yesterday on Twitter in opposition to the recent immigration raid conducted at South Park's Buona Forchetta restaurant. "These immigration raids don't define us," Jacobs wrote, "but our response to them does. I was proud to have dinner at Buona Forchetta to show my support to them as they deal with the fallout of the raid where agents threw out flash bangs in order to arrest restaurant workers — not hardened criminals. We will continue to stand with our immigrant communities."

"Sounds good, right?" sneered Ms. Archy. "But pay attention. She says she stands with immigrants, but in one of the photos she posts, she's clearly sitting down. Message received. And just in case her buddies in the ruling class are too drunk with power to pick up on the subtlety, just look at the main photo, where she's standing in front of a sign that reads "Order To Go, Pick Up." Clear support for Trump's order that these immigrants have got to go, and that they should be picked up and taken away. There's your classic fauxgressive: she'll say all the right words, but at the end of the day, she's not about to risk upsetting the balance of power."
