Balboa Park’s historic Herschell-Spillman Carousel was built in 1910 and still spins on its original General Electric motor to music played on its original military band organ. It is one of only twelve known remaining carousels in North America that feature a brass ring game. This free community event offers free carousel rides all day, family friendly activities, and musical performances. Performers are: Young Lions Jazz Conservatory, Kathryn the Grape, Mariachis and Folklorico Dancers, and Opera for Kids. Food from local vendors will be available for purchase.

View works by three photographers whose focus is our environment. William Bay’s “Parts Per Million” explores the pollution in the Tijuana River, where untreated sewage from Mexico flows freely into the Pacific Ocean. Stefan Frutiger’s “Forgotten Waters” examines environmental concerns and water scarcity across the American Southwest. Terri Warpinski and “Ground / Water,” part of a larger work, “Restless Earth,” explores the intersections of natural, cultural, and personal histories.

Explore over 120 handmade vendors offering locally crafted goods such as artisan jewelry, home decor, bespoke clothing, and original artwork. Indulge in a food truck court, and sip on cocktails, mocktails, and local beers. Capture a photo at interactive photo booths, listen to live music, and take part in interactive art and play areas for all ages.

The Two Lips are a fuzzy hard-rock three piece from San Marcos, Texas. The band seeks to blend the sounds of 60’s and 70’s hard rock with the aggression of 90’s grunge acts. After the release of their first EP The Two Lips Care, the band released a Britt Daniel produced single “Repeat”. The band is currently writing their first full length album.
