Opening Day At the Del Mar RaceTracks
The summer horse racing season at the Del Mar racetrack kicks off with Opening Day. California State Games Opening Ceremony
Who will win gold from The Golden State? The athlete fun zone will have games, food, and vendors, while the athlete parade will showcase thousands of athletes from 24 sports marching into the Sports Arena, just like Olympic athletes, as they represent their country. Batiquitos Lagoon will be hosting a presentation by Ben Frable, Collection Manager of the Marine Vertebrate Collection at Scripps Institution. He will explain why deep-sea Oarfish, known in Japanese folklore, are washing up on the beaches of California. This free event is good for adults and kids age 12 and older.

Iration began playing their reggae/dub/pop music in Isla Vista, an unincorporated community connected to UC Santa Barbara. The played covers in college towns such as Cal Poly SLO, Chico State, and UC Davis. In 2006 the band recorded an EP, New Roots and built a reputation for their live performances. In 2023, Daytrippin provided six new songs, “Can’t Look Back”, “Strange”, “California Dreams”, “Remedy”, “The Stream”, and “Comedown”. Included in the bill is Jamaican reggae band Inner Circle.
