There is a new classical music festival coming to San Diego County July 18-20. The Tramonto Music Festival was established by the City of Encinitas to offer audiences access to exceptional classical music experiences. Tramonto is produced by violinist Jacopo Giacopuzzi and features an ensemble of notable and award-winning international musicians.
The first concert, on Friday, July 18, is entitled “Liquid Harmonies”. The programming is intended to be a musical journey dedicated to water and the surf community of Encinitas, weaving together the timeless and the contemporary in a fluid dialogue between past and present.
The concert features an arrangement of Antonio Vivaldi’s Four Seasons by Max Richter, The Fountains of Rome by Ottorino Respighi, and “Aquarium” and “The Swan from Camille Saint-Saëns’s Carnival of Animals.
The Saturday, July 19, concert is titled “Echoes of the South”. This program is a vibrant celebration of the rich musical traditions of Spain and South America, bringing to life the fiery rhythms, haunting melodies, and the passionate storytelling of these cultures.
Some of the featured pieces for this concert are 7 Canciones Populares Españolas by Manuel De Falla, Bachianas Brasileiras No.5: “Aria” by Heitor Villa-Lobos, and Rapsodie Espagnole by Maurice Ravel.
The final concert of the festival is “Eternal Classics” on Sunday, July 20. It is a tribute to the timeless masterpieces that have shaped the world of chamber music, showcasing works of profound beauty, emotion, and technical brilliance. The concert features Cello Sonata No.3, Op.69 in A major by Ludwig van Beethoven, and Trio élégiaque No. 1 by Sergei Rachmaninoff.
When asked about the role music can play in a community, festival producer Jacopo Giacopuzzi said, “I believe music is the perfect bridge to unite communities through the emotions we share as part of a common culture. It has the power to connect hearts beyond language or place of origin.”
He continued, “Festivals like this are essential because they foster communication, cultural exchange, and artistic growth. Traveling, opening up to the world, and experiencing new artistic realities are key to making that possible.”
