Safety Orange was founded in 1996 by singer-bassist Sol Turpin, of Sublime tribute band 40 OZ to Freedom. Their last single “Get Outta My Way” came with a sleeve illustrated by Dead & Company gig poster artist Mark Sgarbossa. They’re playing on an Ocean Beach bill that includes the single release party for a locally produced tribute to Coolio’s “Gangsta’s Paradise, as well as a set from Quel Bordel.

Midnight Track at Winstons Beach Club Nov 19

“We are a Brazilian/American band,” says Henrique Scapini Tubino, aka Ricky Scapini of Midnight Track. “We play punk rock music with influences from ska and reggae.” Midnight Track will celebrate their tenth anniversary by recording a live album in OB. The bill includes JB Leary, Making Incredible Time, and Late For Life.

The Danny Green Trio will play the Brasil Jazz Festa 15th annual celebration of Brazilian Jazz & Culture, this year headlined by Bay Area duo Natalie Cressman (trombone, vocals) and Ian Faquini (guitar, vocals). The Trio will feature Green on piano, Justin Grinnell on bass, and Julien Cantelm playing drums). Also appearing at the Bay Park event will be Festa producer Allison Adams Tucker.

Iration at Belly Up Tavern Nov 19 and 20

“We have all been friends since we were kids on the Big Island,” says Iration, whose members currently live in Santa Barbara and northern San Diego. Since their single “Fly With Me” debuted at number one on the iTunes Reggae Songs chart, they’ve been a regular presence there, along with fellow local Pepper and Slightly Stoopid, with all of the groups touring together at various times. Iration headlines a two-night stand in Solana Beach, sharing a bill with Cydeways.

Band of Gringos at Music Box Nov 22

The members of guitar-based Band of Gringos were all born and raised in Ocean Beach, although they’re quick to point out “We’re not a reggae band like 95 percent of the bands that come out of OB…transcending generations is our goal.” The Little Italy bill includes surf rock trio Dolphins on Acid and Mighty Oak actor-turned-musician Tommy Ragen.
