The San Diego Unified Port District is reporting yet more dinner freebies for its board and executives. According to a July 11 disclosure only recently posted online, commissioners Marshall Merrifield and Bob Nelson, along with three unidentified staffers and someone from DelMarTimes.net, a subsidiary of Douglas Manchester’s U-T San Diego, chowed down at the San Diego County Taxpayers Association’s “19th Annual Goldens” on June 19. Each admission was valued at $225. A note on the form added, “Commissioner Merrifield reimbursed the District for the full face value of one ticket.”
