Authorities are searching for a pair of individuals involved in a drive-by shooting in San Marcos that resulted in an innocent bystander being hit.
According to a press release from San Diego sheriff's Sgt. Earnell Sease, two individuals fired several rounds from their car at two men standing on the corner of Richmar Avenue and Liberty Drive shortly after 8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 19.
While they missed their targets (who fled the scene) one of the shooter's bullets struck an unidentified victim "in the left buttock" who was working on a car about 150 feet away. He was transported to Palomar Hospital for removal of the bullet and wound treatment and is expected to make a full recovery.
Deputies are treating the incident as a gang-related crime, and the San Marcos gang unit is investigating.
