Duncan Hunter Knows Pizza

"When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know pizza."

The bidding process for contractors seeking to furnish the County with an elaborately outfitted truck to accommodate the sheriff’s bomb-defusing operations, first reported here last month, has been called off. “In the best interests of the County of San Diego, the Sheriff’s Department has decided to cancel the Bomb-Arson Command Vehicle,” says a notice posted on the County bid site February 7. According to specifications, the truck was to include an array of fancy high-tech gear, including a bevy of robots, video cameras, flat screen TVs, a digital video recorder, refrigerator, and an atomic clock…GOP congressman Duncan Hunter has a heavy-duty lunchtime fund-raising schedule coming up. According to the Sunlight Foundation’s Party Time website, since the beginning of the year Hunter has already held three fund-raisers at the Capitol Hill Club, each with a $1000 minimum for political action committees ($2000 to be “co-host”), with five more events scheduled through March 16. A February 17 lunch for the ex-Marine and defense-contractor champion is to be held at We, the Pizza, a Pennsylvania Avenue eatery whose website features a variation on a famous quote from the late acid-rock king Jimi Hendrix (“When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know (pizza).”)

Birds of a feather..........Remember the shirtless Republican congressman Chris Lee who posted on Craig's List? From HuffPo,

"Sources say Lee was at the Baltimore Waterfront Marriott with House Republicans for the 2011 Republican Retreat on Jan. 14. After a lecture on "intelligent use of information technology" which clearly didn't sink in -- and a few drinks at a pub near the hotel with Rep. Duncan Hunter, Rep. Bill Shuster and Rep. Tom Rooney..."

Duncan, keep your shirt on. When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the Reader will know.

On the subject of Duncan the Junior: what has he done for you lately? Try this: Duncan Hunter, Jr.(R-Ca) has a bill US HR 374, to extend the 14th Amendment to Unborn Humans. Duncan Hunter Jr., D-Calif., has introduced legislation to "put the brakes" on the DADT repeal.

Spend more time in bars and fundraising, Dunc, and stay out of the business of the people.

The previous post has Hunter as a D. Ooops. He's an R, for sure. That sentence came from a SD Gay & Lesbian News story published on Feb 1 2011, by Morgan M Hurley, "SDGLN Copy Editor." That'll teach me to lift a sentence w/o giving credit. And someone needs to go back to copyeditor school. Pretty cool, though that copyeditors get to write articles.

Either SDGLN can't believe that a Republican would be anti-DADT, or someone slipped it in on purpose!
