Usher may have been the headliner at this eight-artist concert, but Justin Bieber was the reason Cricket Wireless was sold out. Everywhere I looked, pre-pubescent girls were giggling and hopping around in nervous excitement as Bieber prepared to take the stage. When the radio DJ came out to announce him, there was a minute of ear piercing sound as girls of all ages screamed at the top of their lungs.
The undercard featured quick sets from opening acts: JLS, B.O.B., Iyaz, and a shirtless Jason Derulo. Ke$ha brought a lot of energy to the show but ultimately disappointed with her sub-par singing. Radio versions of "Tik Tok" and "Your Love Is My Drug" are much better sounding than her live versions.
In my opinion, Akon stole the show and got much of the front section involved by encouraging his fans to rush to the stage. He stood just over the crowd, shirtless, playing hits such as "Beautiful" while women grabbed at his crotch.
Much of the crowd left after Bieber finished and missed a good performance by Usher, who closed out the five-hour event with his hit "OMG."
