I had lawn seats for the Dave Matthews show at the Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre on Saturday, September 12, and got there just after opening act Switchfoot ended, about 15 minutes before DMB took the stage.
The lawn area was half full when I arrived but got crowded when the show began. Before DMB came on, a white curtain was raised in front of the stage. The band opened up with "Funny the Way It Is," and the curtain dropped a couple of minutes into the song, sending the crowd into a loud cheer.
I stayed for almost 2 hours, which was 15 songs into the set. I was disappointed because the only other song I recognized was "Crash Into Me." I'm sure he saved all the radio hits for the end of the show, but it would have been more engaging if he played his upbeat tunes in the middle of the set. People seemed to lose interest during the show, whether from the music or from the marijuana circles people were forming or both.... I wouldn't put this concert in my top ten.

I was at this concert and I have to admit that this was my 4th of the year and 2nd that week. I am a big Dave fan so any concert is a good concert. I just think the crowd was just no into it.
{You have to remember that they are pushing their new album (which is AWESOME) so of course they were playing songs from it.}
I hate, hate, hate, the Dave Mathews Band (although Crash Into Me is a good tune, I must admit).
But he seems like the coolest guy. I've seen a few interviews where he's very playful, and the other night on TMZ, he was signing autographs for fans out his car window, and even got out and posed with this inflatable monkey someone gave him. He even made monkey faces, while pulling his ears back. I'm not sure if the monkey had something to do with a song of his or not, but it's cool that he hung with his fans and joked around.
