A man armed with a knife on the 3500 block of Ashford Street was reported via police radio on Sunday evening, September 13.
A dispatcher said that a caller had contacted police because a man was threatening to stab somebody near the Carnival Market. The man with the knife was described as an Indian male in his 40s wearing a black-and-red-striped shirt and black pants.
As police appeared on the scene, they attempted to detain a total of eight people who were believed to have been involved in the confrontation. A 5’9” Hispanic man in his 50s, wearing black shorts and a black shirt, reportedly ran away southbound on Ashford.
Police radio reported shortly thereafter that the man got on a bike and continued to travel south. Six minutes after the call, a dispatcher asked officers at the scene if they were able to find the man with the knife and take him into custody. An officer confirmed, “Yeah. We’re talking to him right now.” The officer also added that no further assistance was needed at the scene.
