No Knife Fight

A man armed with a knife on the 3500 block of Ashford Street was reported via police radio on Sunday evening, September 13.

A dispatcher said that a caller had contacted police because a man was threatening to stab somebody near the Carnival Market. The man with the knife was described as an Indian male in his 40s wearing a black-and-red-striped shirt and black pants.

As police appeared on the scene, they attempted to detain a total of eight people who were believed to have been involved in the confrontation. A 5’9” Hispanic man in his 50s, wearing black shorts and a black shirt, reportedly ran away southbound on Ashford.

Police radio reported shortly thereafter that the man got on a bike and continued to travel south. Six minutes after the call, a dispatcher asked officers at the scene if they were able to find the man with the knife and take him into custody. An officer confirmed, “Yeah. We’re talking to him right now.” The officer also added that no further assistance was needed at the scene.

Good story, 'mano! Just goes to show you that when it comes to weapons, some folks are dangerous with merely a unloaded squirt-gun!

If you must carry a weapon of any kind, there is only one acceptable reason to draw it and go for broke...to protect your life and the lives of family members! That's all. And no, you cannot deploy a weapon to protect your "honor!" Unless, of course, you either like jail food, or have a strong wish to be removed from the population count.

Think of it this way. I carry a blade, but it does not leave my pocket unless I have no other alternative. For it is my "weapon of last resort," and only leaves (in non-combat conditions) my pocket when I get ready to bathe at the end of the day.

'Sides, anybody can tell you that the deadliest weapon humanity has ever developed is the one between your ears. Without your brain, all other weapons are useless...as is everything else. How you use it is what gets you in trouble--or keeps you out of it! --Robbiebear
