Porn Peddler in the Parque

An alleged sex offender on the lam from California since 2007 was captured by Baja California state police early Wednesday morning, September 30, in front of Parque de la Amistad in Tijuana’s Mesa de Otay neighborhood.

Agents of the state preventive police (a special unit of the Baja California department of public security) arrested Thomas Michael Benhoff, 53, “thanks to an anonymous tip,” according to Tijuana news outlets.

Mexican authorities earlier had been advised by U.S. officials that Benhoff might be living in Baja California. He faces a California arrest warrant as a “sexual offender.”

State police officers who apprehended Benhoff confirmed he was a fugitive from justice in the U.S. at the time of his arrest. The officers said they found Benhoff carrying a small suitcase containing two hard discs with child pornography, 29 compact discs with child pornography, a camera, some marijuana, and a folder outlining his criminal record.

Investigators said Benhoff told them he had more pornographic material at his home in Ensenada and allegedly offered to pay a bribe of about $85 for his release. Benhoff was turned over to federal prosecutors to determine whether he would face trial in Mexico or be extradited to California to face charges.

Yes, child predators are the bottom of the prison food chain-and have to be kept separated or they will get killed.

Not in Wisconsin.

The Reader should just make up a name for the author, it gives the story more credibility. "Ann O. Nemuss" would be fine.

Another piece that I find interesting:

"..a small suitcase containing two hard discs with child pornography, 29 compact discs with child pornography, a camera, some marijuana, and a folder outlining his criminal record."

Okay, lets line up the incriminating: Hard [drives] (what's a hard disc? s/b "disk" anyway), compact discs, folder outlining criminal record. Okay, so far, we have evidence.

Next: A camera. Well, this is relevant if used to produce the child porn. Benefit of the doubt? Sure.

Finally: Some marijuana. How much? Because if it's under a tad below an eighth-ounce, that's legal here. And irrelevant.

Anyway, people should scream for extradition. If he's jailed in Mexico, he gets off a lot easier. Hell, the dude has eighty-five dollars, buys a lot in Mexican prison. Prisons in Mexico are like little cities. In the U.S., they'd beat the snot out of him.

"Hell, the dude has eighty-five dollars, buys a lot in Mexican prison."

Wha!

Oct. 2, 2009

Yes. It would buy, for example, a small and cheap handgun. Or good food for six months. Or multiple visits from a desperate hooker. Not even close to enough for an escape, but enough to be comfortable for a short while (or to protect yourself). Prison here isn't at all like in the U.S.

The thing that will be missed here, is that the cops didn't take the bribe.

hey , how did they no the disc or drive had porn ? was it labeled (PORN DE NINOS )
