What is the deal with the name "Oliver" spelled out with white rocks off I-8, above Adobe Falls in Del Cerro?

Dear Matthew Alice:

Off I-8, above Adobe Falls in Del Cerro, there is a house with an assortment of white rocks that spell out the name "Oliver." This landmark has been visible from the freeway as you ascend out of Mission Valley approaching SDSU for as long as I can remember. What's the deal with the "Oliver" thing?

"It's our property, so we figured we had the right to our name there," said a cheerful Mrs. Oliver. We ambushed her while she was watering her lawn at the edge of a seriously steep cliff the locals nicknamed Oliver Canyon. Over the past 13 years, their biggest headache has been SDSU frat jokesters rearranging the stones to spell naughty words. The Olivers tried cementing the stones in place, but students got around that with larger quantities of time, effort, and beer. Now the sign's all two-tone Astroturf. It was recently covered by a gigantic George Bush campaign banner, but the wind blew that away.
