Show her that you can produce more than hot air and commissions, that there is more to you than beer and football. Forget the dull monotony of dinner, drinks, and dancing, during which time you will clumsily string words together in an effort to convince her that you're interesting. Head to Ceramic Café, where you can maintain an intense silence as you strive to express yourself through brushstrokes. Select a piece of unfinished pottery -- decorator rooster, $28; oversized coffee cup, $20; trout plate, $26; other items ranging from $6 to $60 -- and start splashing colors about. The place provides paint, brushes, stencils, sponges, and, if you're desperate, idea books. The price includes the paint, the glazing, and the firing. There is no time limit, so take as long as you like. Once fired, your ceramic pieces are food-, dishwasher- and microwave-safe. Pick up your finished piece in four days (maybe on your second date), then head to Starbucks for a dime off on a cup of coffee in your customized his and hers coffee cups.
