Qualms over human cloning give way to outright glee over car chases, explosions, and endless shootouts featuring futuristic firearms whose laser rays produce a Roman-candle effect upon impact. This effect occurs around four hundred times in the course of the action. (The rights and wrongs of cloning, to say nothing of the hows and whats of it, get short shrift.) Arnold Schwarzenegger, who has trouble finding roles that fit, splits the seams of the all-American family man, "Adam Gibson." With Michael Rapaport, Tony Goldwyn, Michael Rooker, Wendy Crewson, and Robert Duvall; directed by Roger Spottiswoode. (2000) — Duncan Shepherd
