As is customary with awareness-raising health documentaries, expect heart-wrenching patient testimonials, statistics stamped across the screen, and even a race for the cure. Director Andrea Kalin’s added twist is a six-doctor band that rocks out against gynecologic cancer. A cry of, “Breast cancer has a ribbon, but GYN cancer has a rock band,” kicks off the concert. What’s with the competitive divisiveness? You may as well just chant, “My charity is better than your charity!” Cancer is cancer, and sadly there’s plenty to go around. At the risk of sounding like a callous Charlie, my job is to champion visual storytelling, not causes. There is no evidence of cinema in this 94-minute public service (cervix?) announcement aimed at bringing some noise to “below-the-belt” cancers. In this case, your time would be better spent getting a checkup than at the movies. (2014) — Scott Marks
