Willy's about to become a father, if, that is, he and his mate can evade the whaling boat on their collective tail. His human buddy (Jason James Richter) is now seventeen, and gainfully employed as a research assistant on a whale-tagging project. But there's a new, younger buddy as well, an ace video-game gunner who immediately sees a difference between the make-believe marksmanship on the TV screen and the unlawful whale-hunting of his father. The latter (Patrick Kilpatrick: not the deepest-dyed villain of the series) needs to be taught that whales are people too. Are sometimes, in fact, better people than people are. Elementary lesson, painlessly put across. With Vincent Berry, August Schellenberg, Annie Corley; directed by Sam Pillsbury. (1997) — Duncan Shepherd
