Other than the fastidious period re-creation and the lovely New England autumn, most of the quality of this starchy literary adaptation is attributable to the Henry James original, and there is still a good deal more quality there than made the trip to the screen. Lee Remick, Lisa Eichhorn, Tim Woodward, Tim Choate, and Wesley Addy; directed by James Ivory. (1979) — Duncan Shepherd
