Night Light
Nocturnal scenes of San Diego’s ubiquitous taco stands and a massive shipyard are the subjects of “Night Light,” an exhibit that will feature fine art images by Philipp Scholz Rittermann and Marshall Williams. This free exhibit will open May 10 and run through June 7.
Rittermann and Williams are both accomplished San Diego artists, commercial photographers and teachers whose works have been shown at prominent venues locally, nationally and internationally. Rittermann will display “Shipyard Nocturnes,” consisting of images he shot of the construction of the oil tanker Exxon Valdez, which ran aground in 1989 in Alaska, spilling its load of crude oil. And Williams will display “Taco Stand Vernacular,” comprising photographs of San Diego’s streetside taco stands, which glow with their own visual iconography at night.
