Playwright Joe Lonoff mines all the comedy he can out of an awkward blind date. The Scripps Ranch production boasts some fine actors. Brenda Adelman, as Maureen, is a superb comedienne and gives a highly believable performance. Daniel Gurian makes Joe a regular guy who can be hilarious one minute and touching the next. But I don't know if there's enough comedy to sustain a whole evening's entertainment. If laughs are what you want, then this breezy, skin deep piece of theater may suffice. Worth a try.
