The Music Man
Moonlight Stage's production of Meredith Willson's eternal charmer lacks one in the lead role. David Engel sings beautifully, as Professor Hill, but doesn't have the charisma to convince the townfolk to buy his false promises. Alessa Neeck's Marian, the members of her family, and the ensemble create lush sounds and dynamic movements for full-company numbers. The design elements are all spot on. Musical director and conductor Elan McMahan and her musicians give the necessary power and life to the popular score. Worth a try.
