The Legend of Georgia McBride
Matthew Lopez's comedy, about how a reluctant drag queen earned his crown, is paper thin. Like its hero, the boundary-less Casey, the script keeps relentlessly on the sunny side. But Cygnet Theatre's pizzazz-rich production entertains throughout, thanks to committed performances, Sean Murray's direction, and Jennifer Brawn Gittings' over the river and out the door costumes, a parade of sequin and ruffles and mountain-peak headdresses that you swear couldn't top itself, then does, and does again in this very funny, if slight, show.Critic's Pick.
