Guided Nature Walk
Join a MTRP Trail Guide on a guided nature walk and learn about the plants, animals, geology, history, and ecology of the park. Come out and see the Fall flowers along trails that pass under shady old trees! Have you seen the orange dodder (pictured) in the park ? Or heard the Kumeyaay story about it? You will hike one of these scenic trails: * The Visitor Center Loop highlighting coastal sage scrub, chaparral, and riparian woodland habitats and the riverside grinding rocks, one of the archaeological sites in the park. * The Oak Grove Loop showcasing majestic coast live oaks, rare Engelmann’s oaks, and a Kumeyaay ‘ewaa (hut). The trails used are easy, but have uneven surfaces and some involve steps, so be sure to wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes and bring along water. A hat and sunscreen are also recommended. Walks are canceled if raining.
