Potato Chip Rock Full Moon Hike
Join Camp Bum for a community-driven Blue Moon hike at Mount Woodson Trail—one of San Diego’s most iconic summit experiences. This isn’t just any full moon… it’s a Blue Moon, the rare second full moon within a single month, a moment traditionally associated with reflection, release, and stepping into something new.
We’ll make our way up the Mount Woodson Trail, a steady and rewarding climb known for its sweeping views, winding granite formations, and the legendary Potato Chip Rock. As the sun sets and the moon rises, the landscape transforms—casting silver light across the terrain and creating a completely different kind of hiking experience.
Expect a moderately challenging hike (around 4.2 miles round trip depending on route), with elevation gain that gets your heart pumping and a summit payoff that’s hard to beat. We’ll move at a supportive group pace, taking breaks as needed and soaking in the views along the way.
