Stars at West Sycamore
Join members from the San Diego Astronomy Association at the West Sycamore Staging Area to view the nighttime sky through telescopes at West Sycamore. Pretty crescent moon sets at 10:22pm. The bright object next to the moon is Venus. Can you tell what phase it is showing? We are in the middle of the summer, so identify the “Summer Triangle.” This is a good night to see the Ring Nebula in Lyra. Look for double stars Mizar and Alcor in the Big Dipper and Albireo in Cygnus. If the haze is low to the Southeast, identify Antares, the Heart of the Scorpion or Rival of Mars.
