The growing popularity of fast fiction – short stories under 1,000 words in length and sometimes drastically shorter than that – can be attributed to more than the digitalization of content and the shortening of attention spans. In truth, writers and readers alike are discovering that short fiction need not be lesser fiction. The flash-fiction form allows writers to not only be concise but to be creative in ways they perhaps hadn’t thought possible. This course is a guide to that form and its possibilities.
