Carrico discusses his new book, El Presidio de San Diego: Excavating Southern California’s Lost City, which explores Spain’s first colony in Alta California through the lens of archaeological excavations at Presidio Hill. Carrico examines what the discoveries reveal about daily life and the diverse communities connected to the presidio, including Spaniards, Mexicans, and Kumeyaay people. A book signing follows the talk.
