Stress, Pleasure & Social Connection: How the Brain Reacts to Emotion to Shape Behavior
8820 Judicial Drive, San Diego, 92122
Cost: Free
Dr. Lisa Stowers of Scripps Research Institute will discuss how her laboratory focuses on basic neuroscience in determining how the brain creates and response to emotion. Using male mice in an animal model, responses to another animal entering the cage begin with the sensory system. Pheromones released are an indication of how social interactions will proceed. The lab has made several discoveries about specific pheromones that connect with emotional responses in mice. The research was originally funded by a grant from the National Institute of Health’s BRAIN Initiative. To receive the Zoom link for this lecture, email [email protected].
