Join MTRP Trail Guides on a special guided nature walk from the Kumeyaay Lake Campground day use parking lot to use iNaturalist to record plants, insects, and other living things in nature as part of the international City Nature Challenge.
Learn more about CNC at https://www.sdnhm.org/education/community-science/city-nature-challenge/city-nature-challenge-events . iNaturalist is an easy-to-use database that records photos of wild living things that can be used as scientific data to study biodiversity and other issues. To get started, go to: inaturalist.org/pages/getting. started. Then download the free app to your mobile device and create your account.
Come at 8:00 AM for assistance with the app. We’ll explore the east side of Mission Trails and find species to photograph and upload to iNaturalist. Help us understand the biodiversity of Mission Trails and San Diego County. This walk is free, and no registration is required. The trails used are easy, but have uneven surfaces and may involve steps, so be sure to wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes and bring along water. A hat and sunscreen are also recommended. Walk will be canceled if raining.
