New and experienced dancers are welcome to join the Cactus Lickers (Jim Anderson (guitar), Charlie VanTassel (banjo), Jonathan Hallemeier (fiddle), Peter Sharpe (mandolin)) and caller Ellie Konitshek. Contra dance is a living American tradition of country social dance done in two long lines. You change partners for every dance and move up and down the line to dance with everyone. The caller guides you through the dance. Gender-neutral calling and partner choice. Wear what you like, with comfortable shoes. Arrive at 7 and learn what you need to know for the dance at 7:30.
