Greater San Diego Music Coterie: Exotic Attractions
Featuring the Greater San Diego Chamber Orchestra directed by Dr. Angela Yeung, the performance samples the Western art music composers' interpretation of exoticism: selections from Lully's Le Bourgeois gentilhomme, Weber's Incidental Music to Turandot, Beethoven's Ruins of Athens, Ibert's Escales, and Holst's Beni Mora. Soprano Emily Ortlieb will perform the Bell Aria from Delibes's Lakmé and “Asie” from Ravel's song cycle Shéhérazade.
