Urban Havens: Gardens of Historic North Park & Burlingame
The San Diego Floral Association’s “garden tour with a difference” will feature the distinctive historic neighborhoods of North Park and Burlingame, located on the east side of Balboa Park. Eight gardens, all of which surround historic homes, will be open to ticket holders. The unique Burlingame neighborhood, with its lovely rose-stained sidewalks, is rich with historic craftsman and Spanish revival bungalows. In addition to the featured gardens, many of San Diego’s early master builders and architects are represented in these neighborhoods. The gardens are located just minutes away from the vibrant assortment of restaurants and shops in the lively North and South Park commercial areas. The gardens vary in size, landscape design and plant choices, ranging from food production and native plants to waterwise exotics and tropicals.
