ASME SD Section Nip Shah Memorial Water Bottle Rocket Launch
4926 Hilltop Drive, San Diego, 92102
Cost: Free
Launching water rockets is a safe and exciting way for K-12 students to learn about the forces that determine the flight trajectory of a rocket.
The body of the rocket is an empty, plastic, two-liter soda bottle. To increase stability, fins can be attached to the bottom of the bottle and mass can be added underneath a nose cone attached to the top of the bottle. Prior to launch, the bottle is partially filled with water and mounted on a custom-made launcher that holds the rocket in place while the remaining volume is pressurized with air.
Pizza and refreshments will be provided.
