Throughout the month of June, Rooftop Cinema Club Embarcadero at the Manchester Grand Hyatt is turning up the volume on visibility, celebration and community while shining the spotlight iconic LGBTQ+ stories, queer joy on screen, and the people who make those spaces vibrant, bold and beautifully themselves.
And it’s not just the LGBTQ+ community that will have its stories told. Rooftop Cinema Club will also celebrate Black film and Black actors and screenwriters with a specially curated Juneteenth lineup. It’s all part of a dynamic June slate at Rooftop Cinema Club that includes Father’s Day and a unique collaboration with The Gene Wilder Estate and The Alzheimer’s Association to celebrate the life and legacy of the late actor and funnyman, Gene Wilder.
At its core, Rooftop Cinema Club is all about celebrating “Great Film” and a sampling of what’s set to shine on the big screen during the month of June includes Too Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Burlesque, The Birdcage, The Sixth Sense, Wicked, Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory and Young Frankenstein along with another 60-plus cult-classics, rom-coms, family films and top recent releases.
And throughout the month of June, Rooftop Cinema Club is partnering with the nonprofit San Diego Pride with 15% of ticket sales from select pride-themed screenings going directly to San Diego Pride to support and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community.
