Haydn Voyages: Worldly Travelers
The fifth season closes with a trip around the world featuring wonderfully varied journey around the world, with stops in this century’s Middle East and 18th-century France, and of course Haydn’s Austria. Works by two Iranian composers from today (Reza Vali and Aftab Darvishi) share a program with the wonderfully inventive Chevalier de Saint-Georges (remembered as the first classical composer of African descent) who collaborated on many of Haydn’s Paris premieres. Take a trip around the world with the Hausmann Quartet to round out the fifth season of Haydn Voyages. Refreshments will be available at the upper deck bar starting at 3 pm, as well as after each concert for a chance to mingle with performers and audience members. Each creative program will also include informative and entertaining commentary between selections from noted UC Santa Barbara musicologist Derek Katz.
