Cost: Free - $5
"At the heart of democracy lies the ballot box" but the right to vote did not come easily for many citizens. The 1920s "roared" as a time of pivotal change in the United States and on August 18,1920 the 19th Amendment to the Constitution was ratified granting many women the chance to "roar" back with the right to vote! San Diego was a hub for activity with prominent local citizens such as Dr. Charlotte Baker, Lydia Knapp Horton, and Carrie Shortridge Foltz taking an active role in the fight for Women's Suffrage. The "History Talks!" Lecture series returns for another season beginning with "The Women's Hour- The Fight for Suffrage" by GQHF Historian Sandee Wilhoit and Visitor Services Coordinator Jamie Laird.
