Photo Arts Roundtable (PAR) Group Exhibition
Grand Reception for the Photo Arts Roundtable group exhibition. The Photo Arts Roundtable (PAR) is a group of local photographers who share a passion for photography and a desire to grow both individually and as a group. PAR is an outgrowth of various photography programs dating back to 2008, and was organized officially as a photography special interest group in 2013. PAR's primary purpose is educational, with the ultimate goal of learning to differentiate between a good photograph and a great one. The group has developed an objective framework for critically analyzing the various components of an image, including composition, lighting, impact, metaphors, and technical skills. Using a standard approach to learning art, PAR studies the works of the grand masters of photography, focusing on why their images are considered masterpieces. They also study related topics such as art history and art theory. PAR members then take the lessons from history and apply them to their own photography. Unlike traditional classes and clubs, PAR relies on its members for structure, leadership, and learning. It is a self-directed workgroup of award-winning photographers who support each other on their journey toward excellence in photography. There are currently about 20 active members who meet weekly throughout the year. Members participating in this exhibition are: Marsha Korobkin, Liz Lekas, Sally Long, Carole Mall, Cynthia Cook, and Joel Young.
