Why Should the Woman Always Have to Pay?
On a January morning in 1923, the scantily clad body of a young woman was found by a family picnicking on the beach at Del Mar. She was identified as Fritzi Mann, 20, a beautiful young dancer well known in San Diego, and under contract with a Hollywood motion picture company. The girl had drowned but had also suffered a blow to the head, and was reported in the papers to have been in a “delicate condition!” Camp Kearny physician Dr. Louis Jacobs was tried twice for the murder of Ms. Mann, and was found not guilty. The sensational case received National attention and remains unsolved. Please join Ocean Beach Historical Society as local historian and author Richard Carrico reexamines the case and puts you in the jury box. “Why Should the Woman Always Have to Pay?” Always Free and All are welcome.
