330 Park Boulevard, San Diego, 92101
Cost: Free
James Joyce's Ulysses with a stage reading performance of his novella The Dead, written in the 1900s at the height of Irish nationalism against British domination. Hailed as one of the greatest short stories ever written, The Dead raises questions about Irish identity with themes of disappointed love and frustrated personal and career expectations. Bloomsday is observed annually on June 16th, when Joyce fans around the world open a book, raise a pint, and relive the events in Ulysses, which take place June 16, 1904.
