The Mid-City Community Music Performance Workshop is a ten-week intensive seminar to learn and experience playing in a band. This is an opportunity for musicians of all levels to improve their skills playing with others in a small ensemble, focusing on a few songs and polishing them up for a public performance at the end of the workshop. The workshop covers the technical aspects of sound equipment, the dynamics of playing in rhythm with others, adjusting sound volume to leave space for other band members, and communicating effectively with bandmates. Participants of all levels and instruments (including voice) are welcome to apply to the workshop but they should have a basic competency with their instrument and some experience playing with others (i.e. jam sessions).
