Film & Discussion: The Great Man
The Great Man - 1956. 92 minutes. Not Rated. Jose Ferrer directed this brash, hard-bitten expose. A probing reporter (Ferrer) is tasked with assembling a crowd-pleasing tribute to a renowned broadcaster after his death. The collage that emerges is of a autocratic, narcissistic heel loved by everybody except those who hated him. The broadcaster’s populist ways and colossal ego were the model for the cracker-barrel demagogue in "A Face in the Crowd". Discussion after the film with instructor Ralph DeLauro. Sponsored by the Continuing Education Center of Rancho Bernardo. Residents - Free; Members - $5; Guests - $7.
- When: Wednesday, January 30, 2019, 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
