The Baltimore Consort: A Glorious Light
The San Diego Early Music Society welcomes the Baltimore Consort to celebrate the holiday season. Going strong after four decades of making music together, the legendary Baltimore Consort enters their 40th season of "sprightly and cheerful" performances of popular music from earlier centuries. Founded in 1980 to play the entertainment music of Shakespeare’s time, the lively sextet, with their viols, lutes, cittern, flutes, bagpipe, gemshorn, rebec, and recorders, continues their annual celebration of Christmas with old favorites from the British Isles, France, Germany, Spain, and Appalachia. Featuring both of the Consort’s great singers: Danielle Svonavec, soprano, and José Lemos, countertenor.
