Ebenezer Scrooge’s Big San Diego Christmas Show: Ha! Humbug
There’s a reason it’s not called A Christmas Carol
Matthew Lickona 1:30 p.m., Dec. 11
Wings & Snow is a nautical-inspired show of self-expression through color, texture, and design along with stand-up-cutouts of David Walton. The exhibit includes a whimsical collection of mosaic and hand-painted buoys, playful stuffed fish, and Dulce Moreno’s ceramic mermaids. Buoys range from the traditional stripes of lobster floats to fanciful waterscapes. Playful fabric fish and guppies were fashioned from material to make stuffed animals in sewing workshops. Many buoys are accompanied with artists’ statements about their thoughts and experiences with water and the sea. St. Madeleine Sophie’s Center serves more than 400 adults with developmental disabilities through nationally recognized, innovative programs. Its mission is to educate and empower individuals with developmental disabilities to realize their full potential.
